In April of 2024 I began my first trip to the African Continent. I traveled to three different area in Tanzania and then ventured down to Cape Town, South Africa. The wildlife is amazing, seeing everything we wanted and getting up close with the animals. Through out the entire trip I was amazed by what I saw, but had a darkness over me because of the threats these animals face. I would think of images to put together, but at the same time wondering if these animals that amaze me will be here for future generations.
Their climate is changing, droughts are becoming more common, their homes are being built upon. Yet this place is still so captivating and the animals are so beautiful. These images are bringing these animals to us to view, into scenes that can make us smile, wow us, and embrace these animals in places we wouldn’t ever see them.
But still, there is this darkness to it all. Imagining them here around us, but soon even in their homes, they might fade away due to human greed. I hope these images make the viewer smile, but I hope they also feel that darkness just as much as I did. I hope these amazing animals and the life in Africa is here for future generations to see. Just like I did in 2024.
